Right after Chris turned 40, he got a detached retina! He had to have surgery in Colorado since it was an emergency and then had to stay at his sister Jackie's house in Denver to recover for 10 days. The recovery for detached retinas is horrible - he had to spend about 23 hours a day face down! We rented a massage chair that had a mirror so he could watch TV, and a massage table head piece to put at the end of the bed for sleeping at night. Luckily the summer Olympics were on for entertainment and his nieces Grace and Madelyn took good care of him.
