Gavin turns three

There are so many things to introduce kids to, especially to celebrate things like birthdays. Gavin's actual birthday consisted of:

- Ice cream for breakfast
- slip n slide, snow cones, pizza, rice crispie treats, and dressing up as super heros at school
- grandma and grandpa arriving
- cake and presents of course

Then the birthday party came and it was partly for Gavin and partly for Chris ;-)
We had a lot of fun planning for it and the theme was easy to build on. We had a fire truck come but they had some problems finding the house. Once they arrived (an hour late) the driver couldn't find the lights and sirens for a couple minutes. Once he did find them he ended up draining the battery and Chris had to jump start it with the mini van (which he now refers to as the "man van"). The kids got to go for a ride in the truck and had lots of fun playing in and around it. Chris also built a house with windows on hinges so that kids could "put out the fire in the windows" and make the windows fall down. We had an obstacle course too. Most of the guests spent all 2 hours outside - in the 95 degree heat! It was lots of fun but certainly tiring and I think next year we might go to a jumpy gym or something :)

This is the house that Chris made. The window fall down/open with the hose

Here is the obstacle course - a tunnel, 2x4 to walk across, the neighbor's rock wall/slide, and then a wall of flames to go through to rescue the dog

One thing we did the easy way was the cake (and the pizza). These cupcake cakes are great!
