We pulled Gavin out of Daycare this week. He started daycare full time after the holidays and 1.5 weeks into it it was pretty obvious that it was not working out. He was a completely different baby - grumpy all the time and falling asleep during his last bottle around 6pm every night. Even the daycare staff were not surprised by this decision because they could see how different he was once he started full time. We decided to get an au pair instead. It was a big decision and it is an even bigger decision to pick someone who will live with us for a year and to watch Gavin. We are looking forward to having a well rested baby and also to see him more during the day.
Gavin continues to have breathing problems and has been put back on the nebulizer. His respiratory rate was pretty high a couple weeks ago so the doctor told us to keep him on the nebulizer (with 1 of the 2 different meds) for at least a month. Then this week he came down with yet another cold and started coughing so we might be doing the other med too. The au pair will really help with this too and Gavin's doctor was quite excited that we were taking him out of daycare. We are also going to a asthma/allergy specialist in a couple weeks (at his pediatrician's request).
In terms of normal growing up, Gavin is really trying to get in to everything. When you hold him he is always reaching for things nearby, not worrying about falling out of our arms. He also reaches out for us more and more and likes to hug and cuddle!
