Celebrating Gavin’s 6th Birthday

At 6 years old Gavin continues to be a very outgoing, social, active kid. He talks to strangers all the time and we have even found him sitting at a table with an unknown Dad instead of playing at the restaurant playgrounds, twice now! As an introvert myself I have to think differently about how to work with such an extravert. Gavin is very athletic and agile. He gets along really well with the next door neighbor girl who is 4 years older than he is but also very active and outgoing. Gavin is a generally happy kid who likes everyone and all sports so he hasn’t settled on a best friend or favorite sport. Gavin has learned to read this year, although he isn’t fluent enough to enjoy it yet. He has lost almost all of his teeth now and clearly will need braces.

Gavin’s birthday was just a few days after school ended so it didn’t feel like a summer birthday. We celebrated with his classmates at an arcade facility that had a rock climbing wall. We also had a combined family celebration for both Gavin and Chloe (1).

Here is the family celebration.

And here is the friend party

You can even tell in the picture that the cake is sinking in the middle. It was our first Whole Foods cake (to avoid food dies) and it was super dense with real ingredients. It was also delicious!
